Officers from the Milford Police Department were called to the area of Roses Mill Road and Boston Post Road shortly before 6 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, when there was a report of stolen metal from a local business.
The investigation into the stolen metal led police to Milford resident Louis Piccirillo, 60, who was caught with an estimated $6,800 worth of metal that had been stolen in the area without permission. According to police, when asked why he thought he could take the metal, Piccirillo stated that he was a “scrapper,” and believed the metal to be trash.
Piccirillo was transported to Milford Police Headquarters, where he was charged with third-degree larceny. He was released on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 2 to answer the charge.
